When I’m not building or operating space robots, you can find me in the woodshop, community garden, or ceramics studio.
I’ve learned more from woodworking about design for manufacturing and assembly than any college course. All the other woodworkers give me weird looks when I break out Solidworks to plan my next build, but I couldn’t imagine it any other way.
After leaving a cleanroom, its nice to go get your hands dirty weeding at the garden or throwing a new vase at the studio. I started off at the garden in 2021 building a large redwood pergola to provide shade in the summer with native grape vines. The success of that build led us to taken on the project of replacing all 30 of our plots with a new redwood raised bed of my own design. We’re knocking a new one out every few months at this point.
